Let’s all fight against the Big C! Over years of research still,
doctors are continuously helping on how to combat this disease.
The objective of this charity is to raise Php 20M that will help the
indigent cancer patients of St. Luke’s Medical Center. I’m really happy that a
meaningful event like this will about to happen with the initiation of Corridor
of Hope, Inc., the official cancer support group of St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Why am I so excited about this and keep tweeting and encouraging
everyone to join? Simple, in shelling out a small amount, we can help and
contribute in extending the life of someone who is in need. In doing this, I can
somehow take part of returning the favor of the generosity of the people who
have stretched their help to me and my family.
Last year, my cousin in London joined this run for cancer patients
too, and oh boy! She and her wonderful friends raised an ample amount for my
Dad. They called themselves June’s Angels and they sent us pictures in their
singlet during the run. Again, our deepest gratitude to all the people who were
there for us since day 1. For the prayers, comfort and support you have
extended to me and family – no words can express how thankful we are.
To my friends since grade school up to college who gave their time
for me and my family, thank you. To my co-workers from my first job up to my
current one, you don’t know how much grateful I am that you guys are always
there for me. I didn’t know that you will be with me despite the conflicting schedules;
still you find time. I really appreciate how much you made me feel that I am
not alone in the darkest hour of my life. To the never ending text messages and
phone calls, visits, sponsorships, thank you. It really surprised me how much
support I can get from all these people I’ve met along the way and helped me
become who I am now.
God is really good to put all these people in my life. Never had I imagined
that I have a lot of friends [that] are still with me all these years. To our
relatives who never left our side, to my cousins who had been my source of strength.
This is my motivating force to join and spread this charity run. I’m
hopeful that with medium called blogging and tweeting, I will be able to reach
out to people who share the same passion in helping the cancer patients so they
can still have a longer life to spend with their loved ones.
In this little way, I want to give back the assistance of St. Luke’s
Quezon City Cancer Institute to my Dad. To his doctors especially Dr. Pao
Porciuncula and Dr. Michelle Uy, thank you and God bless.
